OUR MATERIALS

At ECO SHADES, materials are the foundation of every design. Each pair of sunglasses is developed using a curated mix of recycled or plant-based materials, combined with high-performance components - chosen for their quality, comfort, and durability.

Biodegradable Acetate

Used in our Biodegradable Collection, this material is currently made from 62% plant-based content (wood pulp and plant-oil) and 38% fossil-based plastic. At this stage, it isn’t possible to make frames 100% plant-based, but development is ongoing. The material offers the same depth, structure, and premium surface feel as traditional acetate, while remaining durable and adjustable.


Recycled rPCTG

rPCTG is a recycled plastic made from industrial and post-consumer waste. Strong, clear, and BPA-free, it is used in the fronts of many of our styles from our Recycled Collection. The material gives the frame both flexibility and structure, with a smooth, high-quality finish that lasts.


Recycled TR90 (rTR)

TR90 is widely known in the optical industry for being extremely lightweight, flexible, and resistant to deformation. We use recycled TR90 in select styles such as VORK and GROSSO - ideal for frames that need to feel light on the face while maintaining their shape.


Recycled CP (rCP)

All ECO SHADES styles with rPCTG fronts, are fitted with temples made from recycled cellulose propionate. Soft to the touch and easy to adjust. It creates a secure, comfortable fit designed for all-day wear.


100% Recycled Lenses (rPMMA)

All lenses in the ECO SHADES collections are made from 100% recycled rPMMA, a high-quality acrylic material. They provide full UV400 protection, crystal-clear vision, and strong durability. Certified to international optical safety standards.


Stainless Steel Metal Cores

Inside each temple is a stainless steel core that adds strength and allows the temple to be adjusted for a precise fit. Recycled steel is not yet consistent enough for this use, so we opt for stainless to guarantee quality and long-term stability.


Friction-Lock Screws

Our optical-grade 5-barrel hinges are secured with friction-lock screws. Each screw includes a nylon patch to prevent loosening - no glue required. A detail that keeps the hinge firm through daily wear.


Recycled Packaging

Packaging is kept minimal, protective, and fully recycled:

  • Gift box: recycled cardboard

  • Protective envelope: recycled EVA

  • Soft pouch: recycled rPET

  • Hangtag: recycled cardboard

ECO Shades Size Guide

If you look on the inside of your ECO Shades, you can see a series of numbers. These details indicate the size of your glasses, the lens diameter (eye size), the width of the nose piece (bridge), and the length of the temples, all in millimeters.

The lens diameter (eye size) is the width of the lens measured from the bridge. It may be a matter of personal preference, but it's also determined by the design of the frame.

The width of the bridge is the distance between the lenses over your nose. It's important that it's comfortable - if it's too tight, the glasses will pinch your nose, and if it's too loose, the glasses won't sit stably on your face.

The length of the temples should be long enough to sit comfortably over your ears.

Delivery and Shipment

The delivery time for your order is 2-30 days, depending on what shipping method you choose.

Europe: Delivery 3-7 days (With GLS) - Delivery 7-14 days (With PostNord)

Worldwide: Delivery 5-14 days (With GLS) - Delivery 14-30 days (With PostNord)

ECO Shades uses GLS - Business, GLS - Private, PostNord - Private for shipment of your ordered items.

Freight cost is calculated from the weight of the items.

Your shipment will be sent with delivery to your home address.

You will receive a Track and Trace-number upon shipment, which allows you to track the shipment at all times.

 

If you regret your purchase (Withdrawal)

ECO Shades offers a 14 days full refund on goods purchased on the website unless otherwise agreed or stated in your order (ONLY on B2C orders - this doesn't count on B2B orders).

The 14 day period starts on the day the order is delivered.

Any return costs you incur yourself.

The request for cancellation must be notified to us no later than 14 after the delivery, and be with us no later than 14 days after we are informed of your use of the right of cancellation/withdrawal.

If you wish to make use of your right to withdraw the purchase, you must send us an e-mail om support@eco-shades.com. In your message, clearly make us aware, that you want to use your right of withdrawal.

Condition of the item you have returned

You are responsible for the condition of the product, and of the decreased value of the goods caused by handling it other than what is necessary to determine the nature, characteristics and function of the goods.
This means, that you have to try the item in the same way as if you were shopping in a physical store.

If the item is tested/used in addition to what is described above, it is considered used and of decreased value. This means, that when the purchase is canceled, you will receive a minor portion or none of the purchase amount refunded. It is up to ECO Shades to evaluate the item's condition.
