OUR FATHER & SON STORY
ECO SHADES is a family-run sunglasses brand, founded by father and son, Claus and Jonas Brandenborg. Two different backgrounds, one shared idea: good design should be honest, long-lasting, and built with attention to detail. A key part of that vision is the use of innovative materials - from recycled plastics to plant-based alternatives - combined with precise production methods.
Claus has over 25 years of experience in the eyewear and optical industry. He knows the craft inside out - from how a hinge should feel to how a lens performs in daily use. He has worked closely with factories, materials, production partners, and opticians around the world, and has built eyewear brands before - but never together with his son.
Jonas comes from the world of design and architecture. With a focus on aesthetics, branding, and storytelling, he adds a younger perspective to everything from frame silhouettes and color palettes to how the collection is presented visually. He approaches design as a whole - thinking about the lifestyle around the product, not just the frame itself.
Together, we are ECO SHADES. Every frame is developed with both of us involved - from the first sketch to the final sample. The process is about dialogue, testing, refining, and not releasing anything we cannot fully stand behind in terms of quality, design, and durability.
All designs are created in Denmark and produced in our partner factories in China, using a mix of recycled and plant-based materials. Our sunglasses are made with premium components - from hinges and screws to lenses and metal cores - to ensure a high level of performance and longevity.
As a small, independent brand, we choose to do things our own way. We launch one main collection per year. We work closely with our retailers, building long-term partnerships. And we believe that great design doesn’t need to be loud - it speaks through clarity and consistency.
ECO SHADES is our story. A meeting of experience and new ideas. Of trust, simplicity, and doing things properly.
We’re proud of what we’ve built - and we’re only at the beginning.
Green regards,
